Last Friday, I finally accomplished my goal of sending Mr. Peters, Prof. Looft, Prof. Bitar, and Mr. Kross emails looking for an outside expert.  I asked them all if they could be my Outside Expert or direct me to somebody who would be interested within their organization.  I gave them a brief description of my research focus and also attached my Senior Project Proposal.  John Ranta was kind enough to read over my emails and suggest a couple changes.

Mr. Peters replied Friday evening stating that he would love to help me.  Professor Looft responded to my email today, stating that he doesn’t have the time to assist me but that my project was a very interesting one.  He said that Professor Bitar would, however.

In the coming week I hope to get some a solid draft of the launch system.  There’s a lot to consider, such as the numerous fuel/oxidizer combinations, engines and their thrust to weight ratios, and unconventional launch methods.  My Encyclopedia Astronautica CD-ROM is filled with engine and rocket stage specifications, so all I need to do is dedicate a couple solid days to it.

This project is dedicated to the crew of STS-107.

May we learn from our mistakes and improve the safety of manned spaceflight.
