I spent Sunday with Ken Lafleur, a friend of mine that knows a lot about CAD software.  He agreed to give me a hand in making models of my orbiter and launch system.  Using the documentation from Mr. Pritchett, we were able to make a rough composite of the X-33 vehicle, including its rotating wings.  I was also able to make some preliminary engine drawings, and we'll continue to refine the vehicle as time goes on.

I like the CAD modeling for two reasons.  First, it provides a visual representation of my design that I would not otherwise have available.  By supplementing my reports with pictures from the CAD, I can make my applied piece much more interesting and easier to understand.  Secondly, the CAD requires you to think everything through, incorporating details about the vehicle that I had not previously considered.

I plan to continue my work on the CAD models and create my Subsystem Reports on the orbiter and its capabilities.

This project is dedicated to the crew of STS-107.

May we learn from our mistakes and improve the safety of manned spaceflight.
