I spent the past week writing my Senior Project Proposal, going through a half-dozen drafts with Ruth and with Peggy Silva in the Writing Center. This process required me to think through all the components of my EQ, a very useful thing as I only created my EQ last week. Since it was 4 pages long, with and considering the proposal is in many ways like a thesis paper, it proved to be an excellent assignment in grammar and revision. After showing Beth McCabe my revisions, she decided that it should count towards my English Independent Study. As narrow as my EQ is compared with my original EQ, it is still a huge project. I almost feel intimidated by it. There are so many things to consider, and I hope in the coming weeks I will be able to focus myself on individual systems and requirements. In the industry, your boss tells you to work on a specific component in which you are a specialist. In my case, however, I am both the boss and the engineer, needing both to see the big picture and the small, intricate details. I also obviously lack specialty in any field, as I do not yet have a Masters degree or PhD. I’m sure once I get an outside expert I will feel more comfortable, but right now this project is a daunting, yet exciting, one. |
